What is Psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is a space for healing, self-discovery, and growth. It is a confidential space where you can explore your experiences, understand yourself more deeply, and create meaningful change in your life. Psychotherapy is evidence-based, blending proven techniques with compassion and creativity to support your unique journey toward meaningful change.

My Approach

My approach is rooted in Person-Centered and Humanistic therapy, with Systems Theory guiding how I understand you within the context of your relationships, identities, and experiences. I see therapy as a collaborative process where you are the expert on your own life and I am a resource along the way. I primarily draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples, integrating other approaches when they fit your needs. Together, we create space for curiosity, self-reflection, and exploration. My hope is that you feel heard, respected, and supported while we figure out what works for you.

The approaches I draw from are evidence-based and complementary, offering different ways of understanding thoughts, emotions, relationships, and behaviour. They share a collaborative, compassionate focus while giving us different tools to explore what you are experiencing and what might help.

Person-Centered Therapy: A humanistic approach that emphasizes empathy, acceptance, authenticity, and creating a therapeutic relationship where you can better understand yourself and your capacity for growth.

Humanistic Therapy: An approach that focuses on the whole person, emphasizing self-awareness, personal meaning, choice, and the ability to grow toward a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.

Systems Theory: A way of understanding you within the larger systems you are part of, including family, relationships, culture, identity, community, and environment, and how these contexts shape your experiences and patterns.

Internal Family Systems (IFS): An approach that understands the mind as made up of different “parts,” each with its own feelings, perspectives, and protective roles, and helps you develop greater curiosity and compassion toward these parts.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): A behavioural approach that develops psychological flexibility by helping you make space for difficult thoughts and emotions while taking meaningful action guided by your values.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT): An attachment-based approach to couples therapy that helps partners understand emotional patterns, identify underlying needs and vulnerabilities, and build more secure and connected relationships.
